Our kitchen team, led by head chef Paul, creates a regularly changing menu of home cooked British cuisine. On the menu you’ll find classic favourites as well as tasty seasonal specials, full of local provenance. At the Sportsman Inn we believe in unpretentious, uncomplicated cuisine that tastes as great as it sounds.
As well as serving lunch and dinner every day, we also offer breakfast to our overnight guests, home-made packed lunches for anyone wanting explore the many attractions of the Arun Valley, and Afternoon Tea, every day from 3pm – 5pm.
The Sportsman Inn is the perfect base from which to explore the Arun Valley, West Sussex and its many attractions and activities on offer. Whether you’re on a walking or cycling break, need a tranquil get away, or you’re attending an event close by and need overnight accommodation, The Sportsman Inn welcomes you in. The Sportsman has 5 well appointed rooms, with incredible views over Amberley Wild Brooks or the South Downs’ Hills. All our rooms are quiet, clean and comfortable, and we welcome children and pets.
The Sportsman Inn is well known for its fantastic choice of ales. Brewed locally, and always served to perfection, our selection includes traditional favorites as well as regularly changing guest ales from across Sussex and the South East. As well as ales you’ll find a fine selection of local and international wines and of course spirits and soft drinks. We use Harveys of Lewes, East Sussex, Langhams, Downlands and Baldy Brewery all in West Sussex and Shepherd Neame of Kent (not quite local but they brew a great cask).
The Sportsman Inn’s location at the foot of the South Downs, yet perched above the flood plains of the River Arun, make it a truly unique place to visit. Amberley itself, known locally as the ‘Pearl of Sussex’, is a beautiful chocolate box village, with thatched stone cottages, a friendly village store and one of the finest medieval castles in England. There are plenty of local attractions for all tastes and ages, here are just a few.
